The Transition

 2015

I live on the edges of rooms.

Tick tock. Tick tock.
What is that buzzing noise?
Oh no. Not again.
Please don’t stand behind me.
I’m sorry, I can’t say why.
It’s so unbelievably hot in here,
I can’t breathe.
I’m sorry, what did you say?
Why is my hand shaking?
I didn’t know that it was.
I can’t see your face.
Everything is foggy.
I’m fine.
Thank you.
Sorry.
Please stop.
I wanted to stay this time.
I’m sorry, I can’t stay.
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry.

I live on the edges of rooms.
It’s the fastest way out, after all.
